Dayna Caddell
A Living Testimony

By Shelia M Goss

There is no doubt that Dayna Caddell is an anointed singer. Not only can she sing, but she's a talented songwriter as well. Caddell uses her voice to testify to others about God's goodness.

In 1991, Caddell was hit by a drunk driver and suffered severe back and hip injuries. "When folks looked at my car, they were surprised that I survived," says Caddell.

She was disabled for three and a half years and had to go through extensive therapy. "Thank God I’m walking normally now. Unless I'm in extreme pain, there's no reason for me to pull out the cane," Caddell says about her condition.

She goes on to say, "Every day is painful but I'm grateful because I no longer need a cane. I no longer have a limp. People aren't picking and probing at me every day. It's just becomes a way of life. So I ache a little; it's okay because a lot of people have it a lot worse. I'm blessed."

Caddell admits that she wasn't saved prior to her accident. "Of course I had an understanding of God. I knew God loved me and I loved God, but I was just living life. I wasn't living life according to God's will. But now it's a whole different story."

After the accident, Caddell realized she needed to get her spiritual life in order. Although it took a few more incidents after that for her to finally get the message, she did. She overcame her physical issues with much prayer, meditation and determination. "I had to close myself off and concentrate on God. I thought I was too young to be just sitting here and being miserable. I was quite angry and bitter for some time, but God showed me that it wasn't going to get me anywhere and I wasn't going to achieve anything with that attitude. The wanting and needing to be a normal person helped motivate me too."

Caddell advises anyone going through a situation no matter how large or small to "Seek God." She knows first hand if you give it to God, he will fix it.

Caddell plans on reaching people through her songs of praise. "I think it's important to be able to reach out to people and draw them in through music. My goal is to lead people to seek God."

Hope means different things to different people. For Caddell, hope is simple. She states, "Hope is living for God. Hope is seeking God and giving your life to God. Hope is having a relationship with God. Without it, you can't have hope; you're pretty much hopeless."
