How did you get your start in the music industry?
Motion Man: I've been a fan of music all my life. Listening to my mother's Gladys Knight records and Richard Pryon influenced me. I started deejaying. I really got my foot in the door by doing the wake up show in the early 90s in the Bay area.
Did you always know you wanted to do something in the music field?
Motion Man: When I was younger I wanted to be a dentist. I got excited about this and decided to see if I could make this a full-time gig. I was young when I said I was going to be an MC. You should always have a plan A, B, C. This is what I want to do--put out albums.
What's the name of your CD?
Motion Man: Pablito's Way. My name is Paul, but in the area that I grew up in, my friends would call me Pablito. The sounds are kind of mixed. Bring you 21 different flavors. It's like a 21 course meal for the listener to digest. I wanted a variety of things for people to listen to instead of giving them the same old thing.
Who did you work with on the album?
Motion Man: Too Short, Kool Keith, Gift of Gab, a buddy of mine, Miracle C and Fathead out of LA.
What was the motivation behind this album?
Motion Man: I watch a lot of football. I'm a big sports guy. A lot of the songs I wrote last year during football season.
What do you do in your downtime?
Motion Man: Play with my daughter(3) {for example, pushing her on the swing)
What other projects do you have coming up?
Motion Man: Pablito's Way of course...after Pablito's Way comes out then next year I plan on coming out with another one and get on the road a little more.
