DAN LAVERY RELEASEd DIGITAL EP JUNE 20TH

First new music to be commercially released by a former member of Tonic

New Jersey-born and Los Angeles-based writer-producer Dan Lavery is set to release a 3-song digital EP this week. The songs will be available exclusively online everywhere digital music is sold through Rock Ridge Music. The EP is the first to be released by a member of the multi-platinum rock outfit, TONIC.

"Having known Dan since the Tonic days, I am honored to be involved with his solo release," says Rock Ridge Music founder Tom Derr.

Tonic was catapulted into mainstream stardom in the late 1990's on the strength of several radio hits including "If You Could Only See", and "You Wanted More". The band received two Grammy nominations in 2003 for their album, Head On Straight. In recent years the band has been on a creative hiatus, playing only a few select live shows.

That hiatus allowed Lavery to focus on a newborn son, and to put more energy into producing and writing. In 2004, Dan contributed a track to the compilation of songs inspired by Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, an album which won a Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association. In addition, Dan began writing and producing for other artists.

It wasn't until a meeting with Rock Ridge's Derr earlier this year that he thought to release some of the material that had been accumulating. "Most of these songs were recorded almost immediately as inspiration struck, in the extra bedroom of my old home. There isn't always time to overthink your performances, but to me that's often a good thing", says Lavery.
