DEBUTING JUNE 10, EXCLUSIVELY ON HBO
(Los Angeles, CA) – -- His take-no-prisoners comedy made him a favorite with viewers of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” and his 2004 HBO special “Black on Broadway” confirmed Lewis Black’s status as one of America’s premier social and political humorists. Now, this savagely funny observer of modern life returns for his second HBO solo special when the all-new comedy event LEWIS BLACK: RED, WHITE AND SCREWED debuts SATURDAY, JUNE 10 (10:00-11:00pm ET).
Taped recently before a sold-out house at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C., LEWIS BLACK: RED, WHITE AND SCREWED features Black’s observations on subjects including the Iraq War, Hurricane Katrina & FEMA, gay marriage, the Dick Cheney shooting, President Bush, and even fossils & evolution.
Lewis Black received a Grammy nomination earlier this year for his “Rules of Enragement” CD. He was named Best Male Stand-Up at the 2001 American Comedy Awards. His first book, “Nothing’s Sacred,” was published in 2005 and made the New York Times best-seller list. Black will be seen in the upcoming movies “Man of the Year,” with Robin Williams, “Accepted” and “Unaccompanied Minors.” His previous feature film appearances include “Hannah and Her Sisters,” “Jacob’s Ladder,” “The Hard Way” and “The Night We Never Met.”
In addition to numerous stand-up performances on TV, including the May 2004 HBO special “Lewis Black: Black on Broadway,” he has acted on such shows as “Mad About You,” “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd” and “Homicide: Life on the Street.” A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, Black has written more than 40 produced plays and starred in numerous stage productions.
The executive producers of LEWIS BLACK: RED, WHITE AND SCREWED are Kimber Rickabaugh, Paul Miller, Joanne Astrow, Lewis Black and Mark Lonow; produced by Kimber Rickabaugh; directed by Paul Miller; written by Lewis Black.
